411149 2005-12-09 00:55:00 Its not meant to be another Trademe - its a um, general website where retailers can advertise stuff. At retail prices.
Not sure why they care as it has the likes of Ascent and Noel Leemings there and they have their own websites and no shortage of customers - but maybe the idea is it would attract Xtra customers or something.
And it looks fine using Mozilla (not Firefox) on my PC. But who cares - doesn't interest me....

411152 2005-12-09 04:10:00 I thought the idea of it was to have a one-stop place where you can compare prices for the same item without having to individually visit each sellers website.

I really think they ought to have selected a different name or at least checked out similar URL's. A common mistake to make when manually typing in the URL for that address will actually result in the loading of an R18 porn site instead (I had this pointed out to me several days ago).

411153 2005-12-09 04:13:00 Hmmm....Service to me is worth far more then saving 4 or 5 bucks, so I still wouldn't use it......

411156 2005-12-09 05:19:00 Anyhow, I was in the process of submitting an application to be a Ferrit reseller a couple weeks back, then my cynical side kicked in, and in a blaze of light I envisioned a price war, cutting deep into a tiny profit, and then paying Telecom a commision.

Sounds wickedly crap to me, Lose money so Telecom can make more.

Hopefully though HN will list on it, there prices will be shown for the rip off they are when ranked alongside the likes of retailers like Ascent.

Though they will probally stick to their current game plan, swap the market with propoganda.

The single item I looked up was $50 more expensive at DSE then at Gameplanet, but then, I already knew that....

411157 2005-12-09 08:16:00 They really needed to research their name better. I accidently went to www.ferret.com which sells ferret supplies. Oldly a site about rodents seems to make sense with telecom. joshjnz (7844)

.
Haha, it occurred to me too for about a micro-second.
Even worse is www.bidnsave.co.nz. Run by a local mag thing in Auckland. The ad in the mag sounds good: A way of advertising your products without large ad bills. The reality - list some items for sale at 50% of retail - people come nad bid on them. Whatever amount it ends up going for you don't get the money - you get that much worth of advertising with these guys.
