Must be free, or have a trial period
Prefer basic transitions, or fade to next pic
Output to AVI
Allow music tracks

Fit slideshow to duration of audio track would also be an excellent feature.

Picasa2 does something similar but wobbles the picture which is retarded.

You can do this with Powerpoint if you already have it.
If you want a free one for some other person then somewhat different.

680511 2008-06-20 04:51:00 Slide Show Movie Maker

Little freeware app. I actually use it to create stop-motion animation with my lad - I photograph his plasticine models while he moves them, then use this to create an avi movie out of them. It's pretty basic, but it works.

680512 2008-06-20 06:36:00 I've been playing with multiquence lately. Only problem with the free one is a logo on the screen. http://www.goldwave.com/ wotz (335)

680515 2008-06-22 08:49:00 I've used this (www.muvee.com) a few times.
I think I got it from an HP notebook but they do have a 15 day trial version.
