411745 2005-12-10 20:21:00 Does anyone have any advice as to which is the best free Firewall available.
I have used Zone alarm for some time now without major problems but I was wondering how it stacks up against Kerio or other products that might be available for private home use.

411747 2005-12-11 01:14:00 If you can get the hang of it, I reckon Kerio is the best around. However, Zonealarm seems perfectly adequate. Greg (193)
411748 2005-12-11 02:08:00 I have to go with Kerio. It's the best firewall I've used. It was going to be dropped but the CEO of Sunbelt liked it so much and was so disapointed by its lose that he brought the rights to it, so development of Kerio will continue. joshjnz (7844)

411754 2005-12-13 10:41:00 Kerio gets my vote too.

In my experience ZA also isn't the best - it does the firewall stuff OK, but I have had a lot of issues (misc conflicts) on a lot of XP Home SP2 systems based around intel chips. XP Pro, anything below SP2, or AMD based systems go fine. Don't ask me why, I don't know what causes it, but the problems only start when installing ZA, and go when it's removed. Any other firewall goes fine.
