| 411286 | 2005-12-09 03:02:00 | Hey guys! Is there such things as Travel Accounts (if its called that) where I could deposit so much on a weekly basis and then use what I have in there to book me a ticket later on down the track . I want to go overseas in early September and to make sure I dont pull out I want to put away money a . s . a . p where It cant be touched . Not keen on opening another savings account as I know I will dig in when I'm feeling the urge to splash - where as if it was say in a Travel Agents account then I would be less tempted and just knowing it is already contibuting to my travel funds would be a peice of mind . Is this possible, I dont remember if I was told it was or if someone suggested it or have I simply been lied to? Cheers All |

They also tend to give much higher interest rates which will add to your savings. Would this be enough to remove temptation to raid it? Keeping your money in your bank is a bit safer than putting money in a non-banking institute and running the risk of them going under and you losing your money. Another option is to have your parents (sorry, not sure of your age), open up a savings only account and you transfer into that each week. When you are ready to withdrawal the money, they can close the account down and transfer the money back into your account. |

Perhaps look for an account with high transaction fees to discourage you or one that only lets you access your account with internet banking (bigger opportunity cost due to higher interest rates, and you have to go to the effort of transferring it to your regular account before you can spend it). :) | maccrazy (6741) | ||

| 411292 | 2005-12-09 11:14:00 | Yes! It's called Greg's Anybody Can Donate Savings Travel Account. As your requirement is that you cannot withdraw from it, this'll be perfect for you, or anyone else too. Just PM me for the bank account number to transfer the loot to. :D |

I get it, he was using Save. But your scheme is a Save As... method just like in the computer. :) BTW, full marks for your presentation of those computer parts for sale. Superb in my opinion. |

| 411294 | 2005-12-10 05:03:00 | Luckily I have just thought up my money-sitting enterprise. I would be happy to look after the money, and not giving it back for anything short of an emergency (or the tickets of course). Observe here (forums.pcworld.co.nz). ;) :p |
