410898 2005-12-07 02:29:00 Do you believe in Santa ?

Arguments for Yes

If you believe that you should give gifts (i.e. acting on Santa's behalf), you should answer - Yes.

If you believe that this is a special time to be kind to your fellows and give tokens of this feeling, you should answer - Yes.

If you believe that he uses a massive team of assistants to cover the entire globe delivering presents, you should answer - Yes.

If you believe one Santa deliver all the presents personally, you should answer - Yes

Arguments for No

If you think it is a a bunch of commercial hoo-haa to get you to spend, you should answer - No.

If you think you should be nice to your fellow all the time, and not just now, you should answer - No.

If you believe, he doesn't exist at all, not even in your heart, you should answer - No.

Hey, it isn't my fault what other folks do with my image. I tried to trademark it but it's hell enforcing those things. The damn lawyers just drag it through court. You can bet there aren't too many lawyers on my "nice" list and there haven't been for many years. Although this might explain why the sods are so grumpy and money grubbing.

My crack team of elf researchers work on the lists all year round. Last minute niceness won't get you anywhere.

So you - yeah you right there - I know what you did last summer. You know what I'm saying?

Yeah go on. Answer no. I'm taking notes.

On a side note, a big ups from me goes out to Apple. That Nano thing has sure cut down on the space I need to carry iPods this season.

Bah! That old argument. Would be fine if I was just one man doing this, but Santa Claus™ has in fact being a multi-national corp with franchise offices all over the globe for several thousand years. I'm just the latest in a long line of Santas who climbed up the Santa Claus™ corporate ladder to earn the right to run things from the pole.

Actually, I've been trying to convince the board to shift to the Caymen Islands for a few decades but they're a bit hung up on tradition. You would not believe how boring the North Pole is. I think the original idea was to make sure the elves had nothing to do in their free time, so they wouldn't mind not actually having any free time. Of course, it's all unionised now days so they get ten-minute smoking breaks every hour. But since the inside of all the buildings are No Smoking areas, you've got to be hardy elf to make sure you take that break since it means standing outside ....
