681062 2008-06-22 08:39:00 My website contains some embedded WMV video files "<object width="425" height="355"><embed src="../videos/Jora5000-web.wmv"></embed></object>"

The problem is that we have 3 computers all running XP, all 3 used to show the the videos. Now one of them has refused to show them in IE6, Firefox & Opera.
I have reinstalled the system (from a good backup) but it still will not work.

This box has another version of XP on it (dual boot) but that is the same. Media Player opens the files but the browser shows "Can not create Direct Show Player"

Any ideas?

681063 2008-06-22 09:01:00 Well the good news is the sites fine, the video played perfectly in opera and FF. I saw some guy stuffing branches into the shredder, the later Sitting there with a white Lab ( no he wasn't stuffing the Lab in the shredder:D )

Have you tried to make the WMP the default player Via the options.

What version of WMP are you using? Download the latest, uninstall whats there and reinstall WMP. Download page (www.microsoft.com)

681064 2008-06-22 10:00:00 Working fine here using FF3! :)

Update WMP like Wainui suggested, and you haven't got any script blocking software or browser add-ons running have you?

Example here - I'm using Firefox with NoScript. I had to allow that site before the video would play.

681066 2008-06-22 23:51:00 Problem solved.
I had updated the Media player. I have now Installed the previous version 9 and it works fine on all Browsers again.
The blurb with the Version9 said that it was for Windows 9x & 2000, and that I should download Version 11 which doesn't work.
