681028 2008-06-22 05:35:00 Sounds like the drivers for the wireless adapter are playing up.

Uninstall them / reboot / reinstall them.

681030 2008-06-22 06:21:00 Try what it says here (forums.techguy.org)

When installing SP3 it adds a new service for Ethernet and Internet connections.

First go to Start>Run and type "services.msc" And Click OK.

Second, You will want to scroll to the bottom and You'll notice "Wired AutoConfig", This is a new feature with SP3 and needs to be enabled so we will want to Right+Click and Go to Properties.

There will be a Drop-down box that Probably says Manual. This needs to be changed to Automatic. Then Click OK.

After the previous steps have been followed Right+Click on "Wired AutoConfig" Again and Choose, "Start" Since the service hasn't officially been started we need to start it.

Reboot the computer just to make sure the change takes place.

Or here (support.microsoft.com)

The drivers for it may have to be updated

681031 2008-06-29 04:36:00 Speedy,
Thanks for your help.I carried out your suggested repairs but the windows still appear at start up.As they can be closed and the wireless connection is okay I`ll just live with it.I`ve been to D-link and windows and there doesn`t appear to my non computor savy brain to be a fix as D-link doesn`t have any driver upgrades and according to a blog I found D-link is aware that there is a problem with some wireless connections after installing SP3 but regard it as a microsoft problem, not theirs.
Thanks.
