413844 2005-12-19 01:52:00 Got a funny article here from MSN:

www.msnbc.msn.com

Is this anywhere true? Any eyewitnesses?

413845 2005-12-19 01:56:00 yep it is true.
Something similar happened last year (I think) as well. Well, the last buch of drunken santas just beat each other up, rather than steal stuff.

413846 2005-12-19 01:57:00 I didn't see it, wrong town, but the MSN people need some work on their geography

WELLINGTON, New Zealand - A group of 40 people dressed in Santa Claus costumes, many of them drunk, rampaged through New Zealand’s largest city

Wellington is not the largest by land area or population, by quite a long way.

413847 2005-12-19 01:59:00 Wellington might only be where the posting was written, as many newsdesks have limited places from which to send news. SurferJoe46 (51)
413848 2005-12-19 02:01:00 Santarchy is beginning to get a world-wide folowing.

Google Santarchy (www.google.co.nz) for lots of hits.

This is just one (http://santarchy.com/) of them.

413850 2005-12-19 02:30:00 I saw some of them on Satuedy afternoon. I has just dropped one of the lads at a Megazone birthday party in Ponsonby and when driving back saw about 15 or saw men dressed in Santa outfits and clutching bottles walking up towards Ponsonby Rd.

I thought at the time it was a little odd. I mean, even during Xmas season, Santas travelling in herds and knocking back beer isn't a common sight. This was at 1:45pm mind you, so they started on their binge fairly early ....

I don't know about that, sounds fairly normal for Ponsonby Rd... I had the fleeting thought that it might have been a few 'disgruntled' TV execs trying to get into Judy Bailey's Bye Bye bash in disguise :D

413852 2005-12-19 08:28:00 omg thats some funny sh*t, when it was on the news tonight they were all serious saying "is this reality tv today? what is happening in the world these days, Red suited terrorists threaten to blow up the world (probeley)" or something like that. Noone can find the humour in anything today. That was a good article Haha.. jackrulz (2216)
