| 413522 | 2005-12-17 18:44:00 | Some of us here on PF1 have been saying that Avast is a great AV program and better than AVG, so to prove it read this: www.avast.com ...and this site also lists the best anti spyware, anti spam, web filtering, etc. www.scawards.com Yeah OK, AVG is still a good free AV. I used for a year. But Avast is better. |

| 413524 | 2005-12-17 20:55:00 | i listen to awards with a grain of salt. nortons has help top honours for quite some time dispite it being a dog of a product. also what is good today can be tomorrows crud. things change so fast in the pc world, by the time a company/site tests a product its already been replaced with another ver. i prefer to listen to real world results, ie how many users need help fixing it ! | tweak'e (69) | ||

I know personally its a heap of crap, my point is you can't trust every review in magazines, as they are only effectively tests and opinions of others. Different tests can reach different conclusions as can different people. I haven't tried Avast myself, but never had a problem with AVG, its simple reliable and doesn't hog your system, certainly not perfect but no AV is. |

Its all preference...pctek, Can you set NOD32 to auto-update, like I can with Avast, or do you have to remember to click on it and ask for the updates? | 413530 | 2005-12-18 08:27:00 | pctek, Can you set NOD32 to auto-update, like I can with Avast, or do you have to remember to click on it and ask for the updates? Yes, in fact it defaults to it. I had to turn all that off - I prefer to tell my software when they are allowed to do things rather than them telling me. |
