Combined with no install CDs & sometimes no driver CDs, it makes them really annoying to fix or upgrade the computers. When I graduated, I was given the compaq I was working on during my degree along with everything that came with the computer. It has no manuals & no drivers CD, but thankfully it did have a clean XP install CD as well as the bloated restore CDs. |

The cheapest ones are good enough for the price. The more expensive ones are better. Many companys rely for their survival on servers made by Dell, Compaq, and HP. This site runs on IBM servers. Wrong. I see many more non-brand PCs in my work - mostly I'm fixing software problems on them. The hardware problems are the rubbish component computers. Which consist mostly of the brands plus NetPC computers. The expensive ones are exactly the same, the might have a faster CPU, more ram but its still rubbish components. I don't care what runs on IBM. Akld Uni runs Dells - go ask any of their IT support staff what they think of them. |

| 414719 | 2005-12-20 19:35:00 | Hmmm, No matter what the big guns are alays going to be pedaling substandard systems by the millions and doing so by mass marketing junk to the great unwashed. My point is only that this doesn't make them worth buying, for granny or anyone else. A spade is a spade. I sell systems to people who care nothing for whats in the box, the difference is when I tell them it has a high quality board,Powerful CPU, plenty of ram, will do everything they want and more.....Im telling the truth. And when you factor in the lack of backup, Prohibitive cost of repair due to the OS being stuck on a partition and tied into the hardware, well, They are ****. |
