681003 2008-06-22 03:10:00 What $20 is dear?? I dont think so.

You can buy a wireless 11g adapter for $20 down the road

Install the drivers plug it in, configure it

Suppose So, but still if possible i might as well save $20

681004 2008-06-22 03:11:00 Just tried connecting the 2 directly by ethernet cable but the XP computer said Limited or no connectivity and the vista com said Limited connectivity. Any ideas Did you bridge the connections on the desktop with wireless? cause I have booted into XP on the desktop and it works fine.

Speedy, For some people, yes, it can be.

681005 2008-06-22 03:15:00 So on the computer that has wireless i should bridge the wireless and ethernet together???
BTW speedy its a testing computer mainly and i would rather spend 20 mins on it then 20 bucks, but maybe thats just me.

There is one downside to this... PC with wireless MUST be on for PC without wireless to have network access

681008 2008-06-22 03:40:00 Change the ip address on one of them (under its LAN /properties / TCP/IP)

Thats whats its saying, theyre the same they'll conflict with each other

681009 2008-06-22 03:52:00 I rebridged them and there was no conflict with ips now but it still kills the internet connection a helpless random (13059)
681010 2008-06-22 07:00:00 Hmm is XP SP3 (support.microsoft.com) installed on any of these?? SP3 installs a new service

And its off by default. You have to enable it

681011 2008-06-22 09:26:00 Are you using static IPs or DHCP? I am using DHCP.

Speedy, my XP machine is SP3 and that has no issues and I believe it is the same setup as the OPers.

Random, is Vista SP1? Mine is SP1.

You need a crossover cable if going direct from one PC to the other. Are you using one or a standard ethernet cable.
