| 682335 | 2008-06-25 06:15:00 | My brother has a Vista Laptop which he updated on Microsoft the other night. When he goes to turn it on it comes up configuring update stage 3 of 3 Do Not Shut Down and the loading icon just goes round and round, it eventually restarts itself. This is all it does, continuously. It doesn't even reach the part when you log in. I'm the computer guy in the family and I'm stumped. I suggested incerting a reboot disc but he said it didn't come with one. So I thought I'd download one, but wanted to know if theres any point and if it will fix the problem. Any suggestions welcome. | Craig Mellor (13762) | ||

| 682338 | 2008-06-25 06:51:00 | It'll be SP1 since you left it on auto for updates That stage 3 youre seeing will be SP1 That will happen if you dont change automatic updates from auto to something else (For Vista) Here's a forum (forums.microsoft.com) with some not so happy users Try what it says here (news.softpedia.com) |

| 682341 | 2008-06-25 07:35:00 | I'm on my brothers computer now and when I push F2 to go into setup it comes up that I need a password, I don't even think he would've added a password (he is not here for me to ask) and when I get it wrong 3 times it comes up 'System Disable [09050]'.In the link it says: ''If you are stuck watching the "Configuring Updates Stage 3 of 3 0% complete Do not turn off Computer" and in the endless reboot loop, then stop the cycle and boot from the Vista media,'' and I'm guessing that means I need to go into the F2 setup. Is there a universal password or something or don't I need to even go into this? |
