681999 2008-06-25 02:05:00 Hi people,

I use MS Exchange and my email archives to pst files but try as i might, I cannot get Exchange to open them. GRRR :angry

Anyone know how I can do this as my email pers files are getting huge but I don't want to archive them if I can't open them later.

Thanks:thumbs:

682000 2008-06-25 02:20:00 You can't open .pst files directly - you need to import them.

In Outlook - File -> Import -> Import From another Program or File -> Personal Folder File (Pst) and then browse to where the .pst file you want is located.

Edit - completely misread the question. I am unsure if that method will work in Exchange or not - worth giving it a go.

682001 2008-06-25 02:36:00 What version of Exchange is it and how big is the pst file??

It looks like Exchange 2003 cant import pst files bigger than 2 GB

This probably applies to all versions

682002 2008-06-25 03:32:00 You don't actually open anything in Exchange.
Exchange runs on a server and looks after email distribution.
You use Outlook, probably 2003 or 2007, to connect to the Exchange server to access emails.

To open a .pst file in Outlook you go to File - Open - Outlook Data File.
Browse to the .pst file you want to open and it will put it down the left side below your Mailbox - (User).
