681917 2008-06-24 17:19:00 I need to know whats recommended for my page file to free MB's? It says on my C: that the minimum is 2, but I don't want a lag-fest, though I don't play games on it. I use to though.

Maximum size on it: 1536
Current: 768
Recommended: 766

What would you say is a good number?

Thanks.

681918 2008-06-24 17:44:00 how much real ram ya got and what os plus external apps in background, 1 - 3.2+gig you shouldnt need a PF at all on xp anyway. (depending on apps plus games etc) plus how much free space have you got, theoretically you can use the entire HDD free space (2nd HDD or partition) but set it to at least 1 gig williamF (115)

681920 2008-06-24 21:19:00 With only 512MB of RAM, i'd go at least 1GB for pagefile and set the Initial & Max to the same value. autechre (266)
681921 2008-06-25 07:31:00 I have 2 gigs of RAM and no Pagefile.
Don't play games, but do graphics.

With 512meg Ram you will need at least 1gig Pagefile.
Ram is cheap now (unless you have SD Ram) so give it a treat.;)

If ever Windows decides that it wants to Page it will dump stuff out of RAM whether you've got a pagefile or not.
