415133 2005-12-22 20:55:00 Ok, i've looked t hroughout the internet and I'm looking for a cable/connector to replace my current broken one.

I'm trying to find a RCA to 1/8" cable.

Look at this
images.amazon.com

And it's the exact same thing, except I want a 1/8" connector instead of the 8-pin Min Din.

I'm not looking for this
images.amazon.com

Because there shouldn't be any pins on the RCA end, only inputs.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

415136 2005-12-22 21:40:00 It would help if you told us what it is for, because a triple connection phono plug is a relatively rare beast, in fact I don't recall ever seeing one and I've been around the industry for more decades than I care to remember.

A further clue is that such a plug doesn't exist in any of my catalogues, so if they do exist they may be proprietary to a particular manufacturer.

Have you Googled it? It would probably be a 3mm 3 way phono plug, they only come in metrics and that is the closest to 1/8. Typical metric sizes are 2.5, 3 & 3.5mm.

Cheers

OK, saw the picture, that is a rare item. More informatiuon as to the products would help track it down, it could well be product specific but I'll take another look through my catalogues, I think I know who might sell them.

415137 2005-12-22 22:15:00 The part description you want is "Triple 3.5mm Plug to 3 RCA Sockets" and you could try calling Pudney & Lee on 04 587 0100 or 09 915 3000. They have the plug to plugs version (2m lead length) for a Sony video camera (part no. P505), but may well have the other version too, my catalogue is a bit out of date.

If you couldn't get the exact item anywhere else, you could buy that one and buy a P6568 3-way socket to socket adaptor from DSE for the RCA end. Any good audio shop will buy in the lead from Pudney if you are not in Auckland or Wellington.

You are probably looking at around $30 for the lot.

Check that it is a 3.5mm plug you need though, and forget that 1/8 stuff.

415138 2005-12-22 23:45:00 I'm in North America. o_o

www.lindy.com

Is the only place I could find it.

EDIT: It's for my mobile monitor for my Gamecube system. It has the 3.5mm (i thought it's the same as 1/8") input which is the same as headphones. It doesn't have a separate audio and video socket, only the one AV In.

415139 2005-12-23 00:29:00 Dick Smith Electronics (www.dse.co.nz) have that Sony HandyCam cable for $49-87. It's their catalogue number C1248 (www.dse.co.nz/cgi-bin/dse.storefront/43ab43dd0343a3de273fc0a87f99071b/Product/View/C1248).

They would probably take a credit card. ;)

But I'm sure if you look for it as a Sony part in the US you should find lots of sources.

I've got one of those plugs, Billy. I got it fairly recently ... from either Jaycar or Sicom, then found I didn't need it. But they are available.

415140 2005-12-23 00:38:00 Graham the one you linked me to was a mere opposite of what I'm looking for.

The A/V (yellow/white/red) side has sockets, not pins.
MasturJeff (7803)
415141 2005-12-23 00:41:00 But that's easily fixed. ;) Either with a soldering iron and a bunch of sockets, or with three female-female adaptors. It's the nicely trerminated 3 way 3.5 mm plug and the cable that's the difficult bit. Graham L (2)

So buy it from there.

There is not a lot of point asking about this on a NZ site, though you could buy one from here as well if you wanted it desperately enough. A Sony agent could probably get you the male version and the male to female adapters are probably available from Radio Shack or similar.
