683043 2008-06-30 02:58:00 Just a stupid question - I never enabled those two settings in the router (I'm a bit too stupid to do that) so something did it for me. Disabling them - Is the risk then increasing of something coming through the router FW or will Comodo pick it up in any case?

683044 2008-06-30 03:04:00 Oh and SWMBO only uses IE on her lappie so it should be OK.

Will report back in any case

Thanks guys. Thanks Waiunuitech

683045 2008-06-30 20:37:00 OK report back time

I can still only get to the email inbox with FF, and for a while SWMBO had the same problem (could not read the emails) and then, suddenly (no changes anywhere) she could open the emails with her IE. Don't know, nothing changed, I wasn't even on the PC at that time. So, everything solved - with great thanks to Wainuitech and all the others. Of course I had to tell her to tell the school techie how wonderful our geeks on this forum are, which she promptly did.

So tell me, the two boxes I unticked - aren't they the ones that "mask" the router to make it "invisible" on the Net? I liked the idea of the router FW, but now I have to rely on Comodo as well?

By the way, can't open the router page with IE on my PC - get page not found error message. Also can't get to the inbox of SWMBO with IE, same message. Not that I use IE at all. This means I still get the FF "warning" as per a previous post. I'll google it and see what I can do to fix it. Perhaps uninstall FF and reinstall.

683046 2008-06-30 22:48:00 OWA uses a popup window for new messages etc. Make sure any popup blocker has the web address as allowed. berryb (99)
683047 2008-07-01 01:34:00 But I think nearly every program these days blocks pop-ups - Nod32, Spybot, SuperDuperAntiSpyw, SpywBlaster, even XP? Damn, I have to do a bit of digging then.

683048 2008-07-01 01:51:00 Try loking at the security In IE - Open IE - Tool/Internet options / Security Tab, if its set to custom, hit the default button, that will bring it back to Medium-High, also look in the box that has the four Icons - Click on Restricted sites & Local Intranet, then the sites button on the right, make sure the router is not being blocked.

You can also tryIE's own pop up blocker - tools/Internet Options/popup Blocker - Select off.
