Still no one knows what size speakers they hold??
Misty - do you no?

Hi Fergie
I have measured them across and they are 15 cms - but you probably want to know something else ?

415447 2005-12-26 09:41:00 na thts cool - thts about 6" so should hold 6 - 6.5" (which is standard anyway)
What about in the rear? (under the window) are they oval shaped or circle?

Cheers

415448 2005-12-26 09:51:00 The Primeras are quite old - they were obsolescent in the UK before the model arrived new in NZ. Greg (193)

Yes, Fergie - 6" is 15.04 cms. Have had a look and see that the speakers in the rear are up on the underside of the roof because I have a station wagon. They are squarish (with rounded corners).

415450 2005-12-27 04:41:00 I have a Primera (2.0 auto) which has just topped 202, 000 without any major issues.

The auto seems pretty bullet proof (had the car almost 4 years and have definitely not driven like my grandmother :p) and have really had no major issues with it, though in the 91 (my model) there was a bad design issue with the front suspension bushes. They usually needed changing every 6 months to a year. However nolathene bushes sorted that.

Speakers, I think you can get 6*4's in the front with slight modification (4*4 stock).
I have 6" in the rear parcel tray, and I know that an 800W amp fits nicely under the passenger seat :D

However .. need a new sub as I blew the last one

415453 2007-12-27 06:28:00 Do NOT get a Mitsi. Save yourself $$$ later on.

I think someone else said stay away from the Nissan CVT. Amen to that.

The Primera is a good solid honest car. If possible, get one with a SR- series engine in it. I have seen several primeras / bluebirds with over 300ks on the clock, and not a worry in the world. Just your normal stuff, CV Boots etc.

Change the oil every 10,000 ks. New air and fuel filter every 20,000ks, it will run and run.

With the manuals, however, be very careful (I'd recommend an AA check here, and specify that they murder the clutch on the test), if it's been treated hard, or after 200ks or so, the clutches can tend to slip a bit. If it's a hydraulic clutch, most of the 1992+ models will have this, your looking at $800 - $900 to replace. Ouchies. Or just get a Toyota.

I presonally love Nissans, whole family ownes them, great cars. If your looking for something with a bit of grunt, find a manual Primera with a 2L SR20 or SR20de(t). Goes like the wind. 25 secs from nothing to off the clock. :o

Edit - OK, I just realised this was posted two years ago. Not to worry, though. :p

415455 2007-12-27 06:59:00 cool.
thanks.
Yea not worried about resale value! Just want something trouble free and cheap to run.
Pretty set on the Nissan now :D

I'm thinking about getting the car transported down to me (from Auck to Taranaki) so you think an AA check would be sensible?

Thanks

If you want trouble free and cheap to run, then Toyota would be my recommendation. Parts are cheaper and they are more reliable on average. Check out the DOg and Lemon guide for the cars you are looking at, as they will tell you most if not ALL the issues with the models you are looking at. I think Nissan is also a better brand than Mistu.
