414908 2006-01-04 04:30:00 then a further expostulation must be: "there are no bi-labial fricatives in space either"

That's the best postulation that I have heard on 'involuntary exhaustion in a weight-free environment '... now I wonder what posture one would assume in zero gravity to attain the 'bi-labial' bit :p

414910 2006-01-04 08:30:00 Yes there is slight difference to popping it in the microwave for a few seconds & boiling the crap out of it.

I should of got out my thermometer, I will next time and get a "few seconds in the microwave" that does not go over 50°c.

But that is good FoxyMX you have done the homework.
A few years ago I wanted to know whether it was OK to heat honey up to make it easier to spread, especially in winter time, so that's how I found that out and the reason why my honey caramelised around the top of the jars, so I don't do it anymore.

Plus we are warned to only use plastics recommended for the microwave oven rather than any old plastic so that put me off as well.

414911 2006-01-05 18:20:00 Man this is some wacko forum group, "astronauts farting" come on give a break!! what practical use is that to everyone here?

The first subject "fire alarms" something we should more aware about.Who knows if it gets some of you people out of dream world it might save your life.

Now the "honey" topic, you put the honey in the microwave for 30 seconds, when I took it out it (the container of honey) it was just a little bit warm to hold in my hands, (in fact I would be surprised if it was over the 50°c (much)) not as if I had to use oven golves to take the honey out of the microwave, The graph I looked at talked about heating honey over 50°c for hours on end, FoxyMX has brought to my attenton something I was not aware off, and gives food for thought, and will make me think more about before I put my next lot of honey into the microwave

Well, it gives us all a laugh for a start and laughing is excellent therapy for the soul . In fact I think I read somewhere that people who laugh a lot live longer than those who don't so how's that for a good "Did you know?"? ;) :D

OK, here's another one: Did you know that blowflies don't need to land/sit on your food to lay their maggot eggs? They can drop them from midair . :yuck:

Not sure but I think other flies can too because I saw one drop something when I was chasing it yesterday .

That is why you should always keep food covered .

414913 2006-01-05 19:52:00 And to drag this back to smoke alarms, the LED blinking is for a reason.

The load of the LED for a few microseconds every ~3 minutes or so is used to measure the voltage drop on the battery, which will then cause the alarm to "beep" if it shows that the battery voltage depresses too far with the momentary LED load.

So it's an internal self-test in nature and not an indication that the battery is fine necessarily.

414914 2006-01-05 20:31:00 I had a feeling they had put that LED in there,not as decoration,but for a reason. Cicero (40)
