| 682998 | 2008-06-27 08:00:00 | Note: I'm talking about legal file sharing here Over the last couple days, it would seem that Slingshot have started filtering Bittorrent connections. I get terrible (if any) download speeds (HTTP downloads are as fast as ever), and trackers (big ones, like PirateBay and Demonoid) have the status 'connection closed by peer'. DHT also appears to be blocked. This torrent supposedly has 3000 seeds. Are any other Slingshot (or other ADSL company) customers getting abismal performance all of a sudden? I'm using uTorrent, and the port check comes back as OK. |

| 682999 | 2008-06-27 08:32:00 | This is quite odd: img72.imageshack.us uTorrent says the connection times out, but I can ping fine. |

| 683000 | 2008-06-27 09:40:00 | torrents..crikey, folks still use that? :) 3000 seeds on a public tracker.. heck it might as well be 3 seeds. They're probably all speed limiting or their own connections are maxed out. Poor speeds on a highly seeded public tracker isnt uncommon. Public trackers ( I would class Demonoid as public due to the sheer vast number of members ) aren't very reliable and even though you may have had success prior, i'm not sure if Slingshot port shapes or traffic shapes though. Oh and im guessing youve got NAT working and also the tcp and udp ports configured in uTorrent and your firewall and within your modem/router settings? |

What exactly are you trying to download? Almost all legal files will have an official tracker run by the original distributor of the file - using this is almost always a LOT faster than trying to use a useless public tracker, as all the savvy peers/seeds will be using the official one. |
