416707 2005-12-30 21:22:00 Don't know if anyone else has seen this:
In the Computing forum on TM a thread was started by Dobby5 - he had the misfortune to have attempted to buy a number of items from the trader variously known as Sharaz1, farasha1 and Computerszone.

The trades turned sour, and this trader posted several bad feedbacks to Dobby5 who was fairly new. Each one is identical in wording and are posted by all 3 of this guys usernames. Dobby5 contacted TM about it but never got a reply. He then went to list some items recently and received email from TM saying he couldn't and would be disabled as his feedbacks now had a high percentage of negatives.
This is what started the thread.
It had reached 194 posts last time I saw it and had stopped being so much about this dodgy trader and more about why Trademe was allowing this sort of thing to happen when it is a clear breach of their rules.

The trader with the 3 usernames has:
Continued to use 3 usernames
Bid on his own auctions using the other names
Given himself good feedback via his other names
Ripped people off
Hurled threats and abuse at other people

Trademe then deleted the thread, and deleted the second thread that was then started. There is of now, another but probably won't last long.
Several of the people commenting have variously had their posting privileges disabled and at least one has had his membership disabled.

There are some copies of these comments still lurking about on certain hard drives. People has started to suggest going to the media and/or Fair Go both about this Trader and TM - that they deliberately allow it due to the amount of money they make from this guy.

Heres one of the posts that now doesn't officially exist:

416708 2005-12-30 21:55:00 It's known by a lot of people that for years Trademe are virtually scamming a lot of their customers. There's heaps of evidence out there, but Trademe simply allows it. In my opinion that makes them participants in the scams:

416709 2005-12-30 22:19:00 I purchased somehing off the Farasha guys once, bad engrish, high cost of courier delivery, poor communication...

TM won't disable the Farasha guy, he brings in lots of cash via success fees for them. Same reason they didnt remove all those U2 auctions.

Edit:
Not only that, he's also breaking a TM rule

3.2 Accurate Information:
You must not register as a member under multiple identities or personas (whether false or not).

Edit 2:
Also... I saw one auction by this guy where the auction didnt pull enough bids but the reserve was met with a low price for what it was worth. Deleted by the originator

Me neither.

OTOH a mate came around to see me a few days ago with a 512 Meg memory stick. It did not work in his camera and he wanted to see if it worked in mine. It does.
He paid $70.00 for this and guess what. Sent from China and bought off TradeMe. I have the original packaging. I paid my mate what he paid and I have the Memory stick. I wanted an upgrade from my 128 Meg anyway.

I was under the impression you can only get on TradeMe if you live in NZ.

I have signed up there and address verified. Have only bought one item some time ago.

Its not the trader. Its Trademes attitutde towards it and the unfair harassment of the guy who got stuck with 13 identical bad feedbacks.

Funny how everyone rants about Telecoms negative business practices but its ok for Trademe.

416714 2005-12-31 06:17:00 we can simply choose not to use Trademe, we don't have that ability in most cases with Telecom. Metla (12)
416715 2006-01-01 02:52:00 I have bought a couple of things off the mentioned traders.. their delivery charges are insane, plus they have no idea how to package CPU's. and they seem to omit small details that should have you running away.

I guess they think that provided they use $20 worth of bubblewrap per item everything will be fine. :yuck:

416716 2006-01-01 03:21:00 Trademes attitutde is pathetic. i still see heaps of firearms sold and even comments that the seller dosn't even know what the firearm rules are ! trademe is fully supporting kids selling and buying firearms :( tweak'e (69)
