418289 2006-01-04 21:19:00 I’ve just noticed on a relatively new power transmission line (110kv I suspect) what looks like an inverted “T” hanging about 2m on one side of the insulator on each conductor.

Anyone tell me what they are? :)

418292 2006-01-05 00:42:00 As long as they are attached to the tower arm, rather than the conductor. :D Graham L (2)

I don't think so, lightning protection is usually provided by a line along the top of the pylons and well above the actual conductors. Something lower wouldn't provide protection at all.

Depending on size it could be a form of wind-induced vibration damping.

Highly unlikely, especially if it is suspended from the conductor.

On the assumption that it hangs off the actual conductor, and one is present at every pylon, I'll stick with vibration damper until a better offer comes along.

Try Googling HV powerline hardware.

Does it look even remotely like This (www.hn-dq.com)

Places for the nooses to hang the electricity market "players" when the revolution comes?

Is that to stop the lines whistling in the wind?
