417884 2006-01-04 00:53:00 I still have a parcel sent to Canada still on the hold . Sent 16th Dec and was told will get there early next week . Was advised its 1 week however during Xmas it takes 2 week longer . They did a enquiry for me and I think the inquiry guy did a mistake and said I got the wrong tracking number that was inbound and should of been outbound . They said if I do not received by early next week I can put in another inquiry

Anyway enof grumble with that . I checked the receipt . Then I went online . Ok, there is the cheap economy method that takes longer . There is also the intl express . Ok these 2 makes sense .

However, what is the difference between International Registered but without track/trace . Versus Standard International Post . They both do not have track/trace signaure unless you pay more . Apart from that standard takes 1-2 weeks and registered takes 1 week . So whats the diff? Why is it called registered, is Registered International safer than Standard International when they both do not have track/trace/signature, . . as NZ Post puts it . . Remember - International Registered does not offer advice of receipt, signature on delivery or Track and Trace . .

Any advice?

417885 2006-01-04 03:10:00 This is sheer guesswork - but maybe the difference relates to insurance cover if something goes wrong?

(For example, Registered normally has the connotation of a certain guarantee of care)

417886 2006-01-04 03:35:00 I am bewildered by it. I think I would either ship Std Intl Post or else Intel Express which is track/trace/sig compulsory.

I had another look at it. Ok one is 2 week delivery and the other is 1 week. Not a big diff and does not say why does it deserve to have the 'registered name'. Both are insured to $250. Std Intl Post can be paid more to be insrued up to $1500 with some restrictions in the fineprint. So I gather Intl Registered will be the same abouts.

Only thing I can think of is .. that Intl Registered is to the door but not signed for. Intl Post Std is put at the letter box or at the doorside .. some guys ring the bell and some dont'.

I just sent a envelope, a small envelope where national it would of been 40c or 80c for fast post. Std Intl was $2 while a extra large one would of been $5 this I gather either A4 or larger. Intl Registered was $10 in a A5 plastic bag. Heck... I think I stick with Intl Std mail or Intl Express in future now.

417887 2006-01-04 03:49:00 As soon as you post something overseas it comes under international rules, made by, I think, the International Postal Union. So a term like "regfistered" might not mean whatever "registered" means inside NZ. Graham L (2)
