417214 2006-01-01 23:28:00 This afternoon I was hoping to watch a wee bit of the ASB Classic on the internet via the TVNZ website: www.tvnz.co.nz as they are offering LIVE Tennis Streaming.

When I click on the "Click here for Tennis Streaming" link on the above page I get this message:

This stream restricted to the in NZ
If viewing from inside NZ, Please Contact your ISP

I am in NZ you stupid website!!!

:groan:

I bet that video stream does not either
A. like the 222.153.xxx.xxx ip address range!

Or

B. as xtra / Telecom does not like Peering with a few places....

Has any one else had this problem?

Note: As I am Not the account holder I cant contact Xtra, my parents are (& am 21 & not a 13 year old.)

417216 2006-01-02 00:25:00 The pages seem to load for me and we use Xtra, but I refuse to install Windows Media Player so I can't watch it anyway. :p

Edit: I just noticed there is a Flash version, but it doesn't seem to work.

417217 2006-01-02 00:28:00 My dad has just given xtra a ring about this & we are waiting for them to give us a ring back.

So we will see what they say.

Not "Peering with a few places", they don't do free peering with anyone - that's the difference.

The streaming is provided by R2 (www.r2.co.nz) who only support access from peered providers so it doesn't cost them a fortune in content provision - particularly when they do it for free.

Perhaps moving to an ISP that doesn't suck would be a good option.

So we will see what they say . Chances are they won't say anything as their first few tiers of support won't anywhere near understanding the issues involved . Last time this topic came up they blamed software, and the streaming provider .

Is there something wrong with your TV .

Want to watch two channels at once . Buy a TV with picture in picture (or see previous suggestion about isp's and sucking)

As I thought, Thanks ninja :)

417223 2006-01-02 08:03:00 Question for you ninja, back when the elections where on TV3 used the same streaming provider as TVNZ is using today & I could access the feed fine, wants the different here? Is that TV3 where paying them & TVNZ are not? stu161204 (123)
