683124 2008-06-28 00:29:00 Okay - this requires a working XP Computer - internet access and a bit more indepth, if this is not possible, or its getting to technical , or doesn't work I think it may need a Hands on from a tech, other wise you could run the risk of losing data. The updates may have been the cause of the problem.

Go to This site here (http://www.ubcd4win.com/) The site tells you how to install, burn the ISO file etc.

On the left download the program ( Sometimes mirror 10 or 11 seems more reliable, download.com does work even though it says its down :waughh: ) - its about 224Mb in size.

One the first site it tells you how to make the ISO thats required, under "How To" -- Once you have the CD made, boot from it ----

To restore the Registry:

You can try to run system restore from the CD, Boot from the CD ( takes a few minutes), when the Start Shell log in appears either click Start Shell, or leave it alone and it will auto boot.
When network Support appears click No

Once loaded, click Start/Programs/Registry Tools/Registry Restore Wizard ( Press Enter) Here is a Screen shot of the path (www.imagef1.net.nz)

Make sure your OS is selected - it should be C:\windows (Enter)

Make Sure “Fix the System To that of a Previous State” is dotted, (press enter) select a restore point from the list / dates - run it, once finished, select Finish, then go to start Restart/eject. Hopefully the PC will now be back to a working state.
