| 420922 | 2006-01-14 09:15:00 | Triskaidekaphobia Fear of the number 13 or Friday the 13th . I am sure that Billy is far from a superstitious person but hopefully Friday the 13th was lucky rather than unlucky for him as he began his vacation . PS . This should have been posted yesterday, it being Friday the 13th, so you will just have to pretend that it was posted then and not a day late . :p |

| 420924 | 2006-01-14 19:41:00 | WFTWE = Word For The Week End . And no, that is not strictly grammatically correct . ;) Word for the Weekend began well over three years ago when a small group of us tested a new forum, known as "Candy", trying to see how much we could break it so that it could be improved before being unleashed on the masses . We had a lot of fun and since there were few people to "help" with computer problems we invented our own (sometimes pretty wild) topics for threads and posts and Billy's speciality was a Word for the Day thread . It was a huge amount of fun and sparked off some really ridiculous banter at times so Billy continued it as a WFTWE when the new forum went live . Very sadly a lot of the camaderie experienced amongst forum members two or three years ago is all too infrequent these days for various reasons but is mainly due to the transient nature of forums . |

Or, possibly as I guess, he does what one of my brothers do and subscribes to a Word of the Day newsletter type thing? If it's just from his own knowledge then I'm impressed. I mean, I'm not exactly linguistically challenged myself, but I'd never be able to come out with some of his sort of stuff. |

It's come up occasionally in quizzes since. I had never heard of it myself until chancing upon it whilst looking for a suitable word. There is actually another word that means the same but I won't post it in case it comes in handy another day. ;) |
