| 420102 | 2006-01-11 04:48:00 | Caught an item on zb news this arvo regarding a prominent NI bussiness person who had his $250,000 Merc impounded under boy racer legislation when he was caught for "sustained loss of traction". He feels that he was a bit hard done by. Boo Hoo, its about time that the authorities took a hard line approach to all law breakers, regardless of their standing in society. We live in a street where there is a local tavern, and we have to put up with this kind of racket, including loud exhausts and turbo blow off valves all hours of the day and night. The sooner the new laws come in regarding noisy vehicles the better, I have been led to believe next week, but I can't help wondering how it will be enforced. rny |

| 420104 | 2006-01-11 05:58:00 | The news made it sound like traction controll made it impossible to get the wheels spinning. Is that right? I thought it just made it difficult to do by accident & putting your foot flat will still make you lose traction. Anyway, there is no way his wheelspin was an accident (was it really a wheelie? that would be impressive) & as long as he doesn't get jail time, I think he deserved what he got. |

| 420105 | 2006-01-11 08:08:00 | My Commodore has traction control. It prevents prolonged wheelspin by cutting the engine revs untill normal traction has returned, and while it is selectable, when it is on, you will still briefly get wheelspin untill the traction control cuts in. This will hardly count as sustained loss of traction, so I agree with you Greven, it was no accident. rny |

| 420106 | 2006-01-12 00:55:00 | It was a skid. I would consider a wheelie when the front wheel of it lifts up. The guy would have had to reach for the traction control button, so there was no way it was an accident |
