419521 2006-01-09 04:15:00 Does anyone else here use nzoomail.com? I've used it for a few years, but it has stopped working for me. It doesn't receive mail. It says it has sent mail. It hasn't. :badpc: (I haven't filled the stroage allocation).

I found my orcon.net.nz account still worked (from 2002 !). With a new "better" mail system. Great. Except it doesn't keep a copy of sent mail. :(. Even more interesting, when I accessed it at a friend's place, using the Opera browser, the browser "helpfully" brought up a reply window when I selected an incoming email. But it wouldn't let me read the damn thing. :badpc: I had to use IE to do that.

(Fortunately, they have a "legacy" system which does work.)

I suppose when something is free, you can say it's worth what you pay. But an email system which doesn't receive or send has a significant negative value.

419522 2006-01-09 04:31:00 I used it up until the time that the Nzoom website was abandoned. I haven't used the account since, except logging in once every 6 months or so in case someone has sent me an email. somebody (208)
419523 2006-01-09 04:45:00 I have an nzoomail account & it seem to be getting mail ( but I had read some where there was a problem, but I am unsure it has been fixed or not), I will try & find the site that I got that info from..... stu161204 (123)
419524 2006-01-09 19:49:00 I still use it for some sites I registered at using an anonymous email address. It was still working to receive emails a month ago and I am still able to check my emails. If your settings on your browser are not set correctly for the site, you cannot enter the site. I'm not sure what settings are needed but at home, the settings I have on Opera do not allow me to enter whereas the settings on IE do. HTH. user (1404)

Effect: Nzoomail Outage Update 23/2/2006
Details:

The current NZoomail outage has been caused by a series of hardware and software failures of the existing NZoomail service .

ICONZ has passed control of the NZoomail system over to Treefrog Systems Ltd, a specialist e-mail systems vendor, best known for their GoPostal high-availability multi-node distributed mail system .

Treefrog Systems mail administrators are currently conducting a forensic analysis of the NZoomail servers and are attempting to recover data from the damaged NZoomail systems . At this stage it does look as if some mail will be lost, though the administrators are working to restore normal mail service as soon as possible .

From this point onwards, the NZoomail platform will be run exclusively by Treefrog Systems . Contact details for Treefrog will be available on the Nzoomail website shortly .

ICONZ apologises for any inconvenience this may have caused .

419527 2006-02-25 00:27:00 So it's over 2 months, and all they know is that their "engineers" know nothing. I'm sure they have Microsoft "qualifications" listed on their prettily formatted CVs. :groan: Graham L (2)
419528 2006-02-25 11:31:00 Not a good look.
"Forensic analysis" is mostly carried out on something dead.
If it was my email they were dissecting, I'd conclude it was time to cut my losses by now & choose the hymns for the funeral.

419530 2006-02-25 23:52:00 We've been bouncing stacks of nzoomail messages - neither of their MTA's listed in DNS are accepting mail, and messages will only queue for 5 days on a standard mail service before getting bounced.

Time to give up and move on methinks.
