683712 2008-06-30 06:03:00 Thanks Y'all. Thats a big help. I find the efones too small to read a whole webpage at once so will investigate eeepc. Imagine trying to sort a train timetable 2 lines at a time!
many thanks for responses

You can read more than two lines at a time on a web page on the iPhone , that is what it was designed for.

683713 2008-06-30 12:51:00 I just got an email from Vodafone updating me on the iPhones "imminent arrival" link here view.eid.co.nz which will have more applications for it...

How can the iPhone possibly have more applications available than the eee? The iPhone runs a very locked-down version of OSX, as compared to the eee which runs a fully-functional install of (if I remember correctly) Xandros Linux.

You are forgetting about the The iPhone SDK and app store.

"Store" in other words you've got to waste more money on them, whereas a Linux distro just download the package no additional cost.

www.businessweek.com no, I'm not forgetting that at all. What *you* are forgetting is that iPhone applications can only be written to the SDK that Apple has released, and that there is a limited number of such applications available.

The version of Xandros that the eee uses will quite happily run almost any application compiled for Linux on an x86 CPU - which is a truly massive ammount. The number of applications accessable directly through the Xandros package manager (for free) is likely to be far more than the total number of applications ever released for the iPhone.

Still convinced?
