Billy 8-{) :pWow, you always tout yourself as higher and mightier than everyone else, yet you still can't resist sniping away.

You're no better than anyone else here, I'd pity you but wouldn't want to waste any more time on you than this has taken.

419894 2006-01-11 21:56:00 Excellent, We have degenirated from discussing Mac's and PC's to a Billy Vs Ninja tussle.

All we need now is for me to throw out a swear word or 2, Accuse someone of wearing womens under wear, get the mods involved and we will have a classic thread on our hands.

Go the Blacks.

419896 2006-01-12 03:27:00 Macs have always had good performance, true you may have to pay a little bit more for a machine with similar specs, but to say they aren't comparable to PCs is a load of rubbish.

Remember that processor performance isn't the only thing people look for. Some people don't care how ugly their computer is, but those that do don't mind paying a bit more for a stylish computer, not to mention another key factor is the fact Macs run Mac OS - personally preference, but I think it is worth paying more for than Windows as do most people who buy Macs.

Yawn, I missed this yesterday, Anyhow, In every price range you can buy a PC that does far more and at a greater speed then a similar priced Mac. And and extra $150 will get you a nice looking case without spending an extra $1500 to get a slower Mac that looks like a radiator with a carry handle. Im talking quality computers here, The junk in Harvey Normans and Noel Leemings don't enter into the equation.

As for CPU speed?

Who said anything about cpu speed?, System building is about balance, and the most important component in a system is the motherboard. System performance is about how fast the comp can do a task.Pretty simple stuff.

Your only contribution to this thread is to take a dig a ninja over a previous comment? Please don't try to pick a fight . Time to move on .

There is a block buddy function which prevents you seeing that person's posts . May I suggest you use it . That goes for you too ninja .

No more please either of you .

419899 2006-01-12 04:08:00 *cough* back to topic: The current theory about getting windows to run on these is not good, it currently looks like XP and lower are out of the question (www.engadget.com) because they don't support EFI (something about it not being a finalised standard when they were released)

I'm being lazy here, but can anyone confirm that vista will support EFI?

Me? Games, AutoCAD, windows sysadmin tools.

Others.. any program that you need to use that cannot be sourced for mac

edit:but more importantly.. I would try it to see if it can be done

I've read that Apple won't be doing anything to stop Windows running on them, so I'd imagine that Microsoft will provide a patch (or drivers etc) to allow you to install Windows XP say.

I agree, this will be a better option that Virtual PC say. And where I work you often end up with two machines in the same area - a mac and a PC.
