Thats the explanation . Its a fact, that if you marry a cousin or someone closely related, the kids may/will have medical probs in their life .

(ie: They maybe retarded / backward) .

Or born with some serious medical condition . What it boils down to is if there are any defective genes in the family line they get duplicated and increase, but not guarantee, risks of hereditory illnesses . Further down the line if the inbreeding continues then you'd definitly start seeing some strange traits .

420168 2006-01-11 21:17:00 My father suggest no use as he can simply say at the time where there relationship was stable my cousin offered to pay for the furniture for them to share

The duration of the relationship was clearly not long enough to establish shared property rights and "purchase to share" does not convey ownership rights on the ex-partner.

She is a minor so would probably need an adult to go to the disputes tribunal on her behalf, and it doesn't sound like there is much family support there.

It would not be my normal advice, but presuming she can still access the love-nest, it sounds like a case for a few cuzzies to go around with a trailer and retrieve what's left of the goods, with or without the consent of the ex. It wouldn't be the crime of the century and provided there was no gratuitous violence, the Police would probably regard it as a domestic matter.

Alternatively, if she has receipts, father could pull his finger out and tell the police he is going around to retrieve the goods and ask them to come and ensure that nobody gets whacked. Even if they don't come, he has generated some cover and can always tell lover-boy to call the police if he doesn't like it.

Ain't young love grand?

Cheers

Its a myth . The consensus is it came about as incest is taboo in almost all societies . This enforces the taboo .

Page 7 especially .

There is the likelihood of passing on hereditary illnesses - like in the English Royal family, but as for producing monstrous or retarded offspring - its rot .

Examples: Ancient Egyptian Royality
Animals - all cheetahs now remaining are closely related, domestic cats .

420172 2006-01-11 23:42:00 Too right Billy, the relationaship could not have been legally established for more than 1 to 2 years.

If there were *cough* relations before she was 16, threaten the fool with a statutory rape complaint, if that doesn't get him thinking..............

420173 2006-01-11 23:43:00 I didnt say it had to be hereditary.

And I didnt say it had anything to do with incest.

And you would listen to American crap. I wouldnt.

I know families who have had kids with cousins, and most have a disability.

Which weren't hereditary.

420175 2006-01-12 03:57:00 AH.........no stress doesn't 'cause' cancer it reduces the immune systems ability to function well and thus leaves you open to such nasties....... drcspy (146)
420176 2006-01-12 04:17:00 Crikey! What a diversion on topic :p

BTW, Greg's explanation is dead on. All to do with genes. If a family carries a recessive defective gene, then a close family member could also carry that gene. Increases the chance that the defective gene will be expressed in the offspring. Random genetic defects occur naturally in the population anyway, but the stakes are higher in close relation offspring. The genetic defect could be hidden on the molecular level involving chemical processes, or a physical defect. All a bit of a gamble.

Think cousins who marry are offered genetic counselling and screening.
