419339 2006-01-09 04:41:00 Alrighty, it has been suggested (or insisted) in the past that NZ companies overcharge for a .com domain, So, who would be recomended for this task?

Must answer queries, and have a grasp of the english language...and of course have no issue about being paid with a NZ CC.

Also, what sort of ballpark figure are we talking?

419341 2006-01-09 04:52:00 Cheers Stu, Sadly I have just discovered the url I was after has been purchased by a company that buys them in bulk for the single purpose of pumping the price up if anyone does want it.

Spewing blood, fire and acid.

419342 2006-01-09 04:56:00 I'd also recommend GoDaddy. Very good value and excellent control panel. :) maccrazy (6741)
419343 2006-01-09 09:22:00 Heh, Have been advised that the current market value of the URL is $800 american dollars, Have advised them back that its current market value is $14.95, the same as the other variations of the url that I can use. Metla (12)
419344 2006-01-09 09:30:00 Ahhh .. good ol supply and demand at work :)

You want it, they will make you pay throught the teeth.

Gotta love greed

(Incidentally, I also looked up the one I am looking at getting, bought by some domain reseller - possibly the same one). Anyway, I don't need it that bad so they can get ......

419345 2006-01-09 22:42:00 Try your ISP. Orcon (and Xtra) both do .com's, and although it's via a third party, (Tucows I believe) it works well. Orcon charge a reasonable NZ$35.00 per year. Webfarm, who own Freeparking also do them for a similar price. Greg (193)

How about a one or two character variation on your original url? Maybe an underscore or hyphen between words or an 'nz' prefix or suffix?
