| 685122 | 2008-07-04 00:49:00 | Today I have been copying pictures from My Pictures to a CD-R. The cd is no where near full and was working all right then suddenly I get the message, "the disk is write-protected. Remove the write-protection or use another disk." How do you write-protect a CD & more importantly to me - how do you remove it? I have done nothing to the cd to write-protect it and it worked perfectly all right at the beginning. I am using Windows XP |

| 685124 | 2008-07-04 01:06:00 | (I can see why you have the nickname "Speedy") I select the photographs in the (dated) folder right click and select "Move to Folder" It worked all right the first seven+ times but then it told me the disk was write protected. I didn't do anything different, and the other photographse on the disc, there's p;enty of room - what I want to know is "can I remove the write protection :-( |

If you right mouse or highlight the blank cd, (click on details on the left), does it say anything else but free space 0 bytes? If it says 0, it sounds like it finalised it, and there's not much you can do about it I would use something else like Nero, or this (http://cdburnerxp.se/) As both can do data cd's and leave the cd open, so you can write to it later. This cd, are you planning on using it on the pc only or a separate DVD player as well? |

| 685127 | 2008-07-04 02:19:00 | I select the photographs in the (dated) folder right click and select "Move to Folder" Because Move means cut and paste the files . You can't Cut from a CDR because it is read only and therefore won't allow deletion . Use COPY . |

| 685129 | 2008-07-04 03:04:00 | I have had problems like you have described but only with CD or DVD RWs and packet writing software. The disk becomes unreliable and you have to reformat and start again. However you definitely mention CD-Rs and you don't mention packet-writing software. However I mention this in case it gives you some hints as to what might be going wrong. If you are just writing with XPs built in CD writing support perhaps there is a problem with the CD cache which is used to accumulate the files before they are burnt to CD. |
