684790 2008-07-02 23:23:00 Hi, I'm running Vista Home Premium and I'm trying to modify a file in a "read-only" folder in Program Files. I uncheck the read-only box in the folder properties, I'm required to provide administrator permission, a window shows attributes being applied however when I close the properties window and re-open it the "read-only" box is checked again.
Any help much appreciated, Thanks Pete

Have you tried accessing the file immediately after changing the attribute? The system might be changing it temporarily, then setting it back.

There's usually a good reason for such security settings.
