| 684783 | 2008-07-02 22:27:00 | Connected an external LCD monitor to my Toahiba Satellite M50 laptop, it boots OK - showing the Windows screen, so far so good. After Windows has initialised all the drivers, etc. the external monitor frozed- only showing the desktop wallpaper without any of the shortcut icons. The laptop screen works as normal, though. Checked the display settings and it identifies the external monitor as No. 2 and the laptop as No. 1. - seems to be correct. But the external monitor doesn't display anything other than the wallpaper without those shortcut icons! What have I done wrong? Checked BIOS settings, nothing about external monitors. |

Go into your display settings and simply change to option there. That's exactly what I wanted, to get two displays to work side by side! Have checked "Extend my Windows desktop onto this monitor" but it doesn't work. The extenal monitor just frozed with the wallpaper. Could it be the display driver issue? It's a ATI Radeon Express 200M. |

| 684787 | 2008-07-02 23:16:00 | pressf1.pcworld.co.nz :) Have done that as mentioned earlier but doesn't work. Went to ATI site, downloaded the latest driver tried to install it but failed - "unable to find compatible device". Double checked and confirmed that I've downloaded the correct driver. What's happening?:badpc: |

| 684788 | 2008-07-02 23:33:00 | OK... very weird! Try uninstalling ALL graphics drivers for that card (set restore point first) and reinstalling it. Also try installing the one that came with the machine. |
