421283 2006-01-15 10:06:00 We thought you might be interested to know that New Zealand now has its own online community for student filmmakers. The website features a film library, hosting a variety of films produced by student filmmakers in New Zealand. Members can upload their own films to have them hosted on the site. There are also forums, where members can post questions on a variety of filmmaking topics, to be answered by other members who may have had similar problems. The Filmmaker Diaries section allows members to keep a public journal of their day to day filmmaking experiences, so members can learn from each other’s mistakes. A selection of filmmaking articles, reviews and how to’s from around the internet are regularly posted, and members are encouraged to contribute their own articles.

Student Film New Zealand is available at

Andrew, posts like this are not allowed on Pressf1 - it comes under the category of spam . Yes, I know you're not selling anything, but we keep it tight because its a small step from this to someone arguing they should be allowed to post on a whole range of subjects and before you know it F1 is just a deluge of genuine and not-so-genuine community announcements . So rather than open Pandoras box, we keep the lid closed .

421288 2006-01-16 10:22:00 Yes, I guess it was technically spam, but I'm pleased it wasn't deleted before I saw it.

Thanks, Bruce, for your forbearance.

As a former worker in an allied field (TV), I'm always interested in what our film industry is doing - and student film is one of the roots from which our film industry will grow.
Bearing in mind how well it's doing in the international stage right now, we should encourage everything that keeps a very small country high on the list of exports other than farm products.
( And no, I'm not knocking farmers. I've been one)

421290 2006-02-13 15:21:00 The 48 hour Film Festival Challenge looks like interesting fun & chaos.

I think I'd be making a film about everyone else making a film...
