421231 2006-01-15 07:37:00 Hi,

I sold a computer to a guy about a year ago, with a Gigabyte GA-7VM400AM motherboard (socket A). This is broken and the guy needs it replaced. Unfortunately the model is discontinued and I can't find any others that meet the requirements, or anywhere selling the original board.

The man says that if I cannot get hold of this motherboard he will need a refund, which I simply cannot afford.

So I'm asking if anybody knows where I can obtain that motherboard, or another one with these features:

2xSATA
2xIDE controllers(4xdevices)
3xPCI slots
1x "8x AGP slot"
floppy connector
8xUSB 2.0 ports
onboard video
onboard sound (6 channel, 5.1)
onboard Lan
Game port
at least 1 serial port (had 2)

All are essential.

The original cost $100 over a year ago but I am willing to pay more if necessary.

George

421232 2006-01-15 07:47:00 If you cant source it then replace the motherboard and CPU, More expensive then just the motherboard but far less then paying a full refund. i just looked at the single supplier that I know to have quality Socket A boards, and they are now no longer available.

is there any reason you can't return it to teh supplier?

I will have a look on my work comp on Monday, have a few more suppliers and pricelists on it.

Sometimes you just have to take it on the chin, Otherwise known as providing reasonable backup.

421234 2006-01-15 08:03:00 As a matter of interest, since when are you responsible for a computer sold a years ago?
I say that because if I was the buyer ,I would think it was bad luck.

421235 2006-01-15 08:27:00 It was still under warranty. The supplier doesn't have that board Metla as it's not made anymore. Could you please PM me the details Metla? Thanks very much. george12 (7)

421238 2006-01-15 09:19:00 Hi George,

It just so happens that I know where you can still get them,
I think they are old stock or refurbished but still come with warranties.

421239 2006-01-15 09:22:00 Unfortunately you seem to have confused the 7VM400M with the 7VM400AM :(. Thanks anyway though. That one doesn't have onboard video though.

Can't see one on Trademe pctek. :(

421240 2006-01-15 13:29:00 this board (www.asus.com) is practically the same product, but made by asus. (only difference is that the game port is connected via a seperate connector, not inbult to the back panel)

although the only place that sells them is supercheap here for $73.95 (supercheappc.biz) (yea, I know) - but they aren't too bad by my experiences.

Does it have to be microATX ?? there are more boards out there just full ATX size...
