421502 2006-01-18 03:12:00 Actually Greg PC stands for personal computer and a Mac is as much a personal computer as an Intel box.
They are both intel boes now

421503 2006-01-18 03:14:00  I'd wager against that.

Think about it a second.

The large majority of computers on the internet are mass produced, mass marketed, windows boxen. These are generally sold to your average family - with the average teenagers, and the average parents.

I'd imagine these are more likely to be the downloaders of porn (and summarily spyware, dialers etc) than Linux users.
Aand I would add to that that to most Linux users the PC is a tool more than a plaything

Yes. As I reread my post I realised my mistake.
Why Apple didn't do this ages ago as it should give the computer world a good shake up. I hope that the OS isn't so tied to Intel that the AMD fanboys can not play with it.

421505 2006-01-18 03:47:00 Why bother when you can ask Ninnny.?Time to give up on the name calling folks, and stick to the discussion topic. Besides, everyone is all out of popcorn so the party is over.

As Metla has found out, PressF1 is widely read by many who do not register but lurk checking out what is happening. You lot having a public catfight does no one any favours.

421507 2006-01-18 05:20:00 Boy, just so we are all trying to live up to the old "keep it friendly" rule. Some of you guys have really been locked up together too too long. It's like watching a cock fight. PressF1 is not supposoed to be a blood sport, but then I'm wasting my breath .... Biggles (121)
421508 2006-01-18 05:46:00 um...........jeezzzz..............must say this thread is only sorta entertaining......it's actually a bit sad..........

anyway someone a while back said:

Mean while out side a ligntning storm is happening.....zap ligtning strike to the house, knocks out modem in computer.

I am sure a surge protector with modem protection will prevent this from happening

errrrrr...............NO...........NOTHING stops lightening........a ups will have a better chance but theres not a surge protector/zap catcher out there that will stop a lightening strike...........i've fixed numerous puters that got zapped while plugged into a surge protector...........theyr'e just a 'spike guard' NOT a catchall/stop all for lightenting.................so DONT rely on one in a storm.........UNPLUG your modem and pc otherwise be prepared to get zapped.......it wont always happen but it may do...

421509 2006-01-18 19:30:00 Reason #764363 not to buy Symantec:

Got a client's machine that had Norton Internet Security with Antivirus.
Did a LiveUpdate to get all the latest updates.
Ran a full system scan - No problems found.
PC still playing up - Main problem: running like a dog!
Removed NIS and installed NOD32.
Updated NOD32.
Ran full system scan - Found and removed 10 viruses!
PC running fine now!

421511 2006-01-19 03:50:00 Boy, just so we are all trying to live up to the old "keep it friendly" rule . Some of you guys have really been locked up together too too long . It's like watching a cock fight . PressF1 is not supposoed to be a blood sport, but then I'm wasting my breath . . . .

Cock fight Bruce . Was that intentinal or a Freudian slip?

It being apt anyway, wouldn't "zip it" be the applicable instruction and being a blood sport, "beating my head against a brick wall" the appropriate metaphor to finish with .

Just joshing
