| 685344 | 2008-07-12 16:02:00 | I've scanned with more programs, everything has turned up nothing and I'm fairly certain that my PC is not infected anymore... But now I have another problem! As I can not access my user account, I though I might as well just create a new one, and copy the files over to the new one and use that. Problem is that it complains there is already an account with that name. It seems the old one still exists somewhere. I tried renaming my old user account folder but that didn't help. If I run "net user" my old account is shown up as existing, but it's the only thing that shows it! It's also the member of no groups at all. The temporary account which I am using is the member of both *Administrators and *Users groups. Is there a way to re-add my account to these groups in command line? since the account doesn't seem to show up anywhere else... |

| 685345 | 2008-07-12 17:09:00 | Well it looks like I fixed the problem! After finding out that I should be able to fix the groups issue in the "Local users and groups" snap-in in management console I also found out that it's not available in XP Home. However, I did find a program which performs the same tasks - it's called "Local Account Manager" www.ungsoft.com All I had to do was re-add my account to both the administrators and users groups, and it immediately re-appeared and logged in with no problems. in fact I'm using it right now :) So thanks to everyone who helped me, and to UNGSoft for their program! I certainly recommend you try it out if you haven't already  |
