He maintains that all bodies exhibited in Body Worlds come from donors who gave informed consent. A commission set up by the California Science Center in Los Angeles in 2004 confirmed these claims. |

| 422277 | 2006-01-19 19:29:00 | People who're fascinated by this sort of stuff are showing an early symptom of necrophilia. Utterly gross. And of course it's questionable where they get authority from to display cadavers like this. I find it hard to believe the dead persons gave their permission before they died. What absolute drivel. Necrophilia-We want to see how our bodies look and work not do unmentionable things. And the doco I watched -there were lots of people interviewed - he had tons of people queueing up to donate themselves after their deaths. Some people don't have a problem with furthering our education. Why not? When you're dead you are gone, its just soon to be decaying meat. You sound like all those old time people who said it was a bad thing for women to know exactly what goes on during pregnancy. Mustn't view anything to do with the workings of the body.... When I die, so long as my corpse is intact I am donating it to Med School for student practice. Why fill the ground up with meat when you could be useful even after you aren't here. And I'm sure I want my doctors to be very familiar with the insides of bodies... |

| 422278 | 2006-01-19 19:40:00 | So when is it coming to NZ? And what cities? Anyone got a linky for the NZ exhibition? Looks like it'll be in Australia for a few months before coming here, probably around August/September. At this stage it'll probably be exhibited in Auckland, though Wellington is likely too (Te Papa, no doubt). There is nothing official at this stage about dates or anything like that, so I wouldn't expect any further info on the NZ exhibition for at least a couple of months. That'll give it a while for the critics to cool down and back off, too. And pctek, I agree completely. Absolutel drivel. |

Auckland Museum and Te Papa say they do not want to host it . Auckland Museum spokesman James Dexter said it was a "freak" show . "I think we would find it problematic from a voyeuristic and cultural point of view .
