421251 2006-01-16 00:53:00 I certainly wouldn't. All the motherboards I supply have a 3 year warranty and if they fail within that time I would be responsible for getting a replacement.
He should feel lucky he is dealing with likes of you and not jjjjjjjj.

421252 2006-01-16 08:30:00 This thread doesn't really make sense.

But if you have to, just get a similar board with no onboard video and smack a video card in it.

Problem solved.

No ninja, problem not solved - the customer has specific requirements and stressed that onboard video was essential, and a video card won't do.

Is it possible to use a full size atx board???

Yes. Got anything in mind?

Unless you imported the board yourself into the country your supplier has to repair or replace it if it's under warranty, which I'm guessing it is otherwise you would be telling your customer to buy a new one :)
It is up to your supplier to try and source a replacement or replace it with a similar or better spec'ed one.

I know - but they won't, they say that because one month of the one year warranty is remaining, they can only give me one worth $9.34 or less (residual value). I know it's bull**** but I need to sort this out BEFORE going to the disputes tribunal.

The supplier buys off the manufacturers, us shops etc buy off the supplier.
If the supplier doesn't have anything suitable they get something from the manufacturers. It may take some extra time but they have to.
The manufacturers have to keep a certain amount of old stock for these reasons.
They can't opt out - thats why I said was it some dodgy supplier - none of them should be telling you that you're out of luck.

They say the manafacturer doesn't have any left either and isn't making more. They did check that for me. They are pretty dodgy and I won't be using them again.

421253 2006-01-16 08:38:00 and who were they? Metla (12)
421254 2006-01-16 09:29:00 I'd rather not say that. And would rather not mention the reason why, or the reason for not mentioning said reason. george12 (7)
421255 2006-01-16 09:37:00 Well if there's nothing that exactly matches the spec you're probably going to have to get creative.

Find the closest thing you can and chuck a PCI Sata card in it or something.

You must have one very odd customer, I cannot think of a single use for a PC, where an onboard video chip would be of any more use than a dedicated card . (ask him why this is essential)

Conversely I can think of plenty where a Video card would be of more use .

The other thing to bear in mind, it is a recognised condition of warranties that stock does not remain available for ever .

As long as you replace with a Motherboard of equal or better specification he does not have a leg to stand on as far as the Consumer Guarantees Act goes .

I think the closest you will get to it now is this one here ( . giga-byte . com/MotherBoard/Products/Products_Spec_7VT600P-RZ . htm" target="_blank">tw . giga-byte . com)
it exceeds the specification of the old board in most respects but will need a seperate graphics card .

All up for the board and something like an ATI 9250 Graphics card you would be looking at around $180 . 00 inc gst .

Offer him this deal, TELL him it far exceeds the spec of what he had before, TELL him there are no integrated boards that match the spec's of his board around anymore and if he wants integrated graphics he will have to pay for a new CPU .

The Board you are offering is better than he currently has and you are exceeding your requirements under the CGA already and that is all you are prepared to do take it or leave it

PM me if you wish to know a supplier who still has a few of them in stock

He IS an odd customer, because he specifically stated that extra cards (sound, SATA, etc) wouldn't do.

He wants onboard video for some odd reason that a video card will not fix, because he already has a 9800XT card in it!

He has the right to ask for a refund if I can't provide a satisfactory replacement, and I need to do everything I can to avoid that.

Agent24, you just saved my life. Thanks very much. That motherboard is absolutely perfect. Just hope the guy approves of it.
