You get amateurs and professionals to answer them for you. That is the D1/2 series forum. Its a site runned mostly catered to Nikon users. You will have a guy who is a moderator at that forum and from that branch, he is a professional Photojournalist who uses a F5, D2h, D2x. His name username is Rutherford I think or Walker. Those (2) guys. You will also have pple who use the F5 and D2x and who specialise in fine art photography as well such as portraits or landscapes and journalism.

If you want a F5 digial I say forget Canon SLRs. Since you said you don't like the button layout of the Canons. That is the Canon style of buttons. The back dial for for example at hte back of the camera. The Nikons are two scroll dials on top of the grip. That is the Nikon style despite if its a D70 or D2x. Since you like that style, its a Nikon style.

Update, the 17-55 is not a wide zoom. D2x does not use a 35mm sensor so the lenses are cropped up. 17-55mm times 1.5x = approx 28-80mm.

There is a digital 12-24/4 DX AFS lens as well this provids you 18-36mm.
And the telephoto lens.

421781 2006-01-18 03:47:00 Thanks everyone, that's what I was after - a place where people who use the cameras talk about them and can answer questions.

The Canon are often at good prices and I didn't have a problem with them when I used them for work, but I do particularly like the layout of the F5 and I've got used to it, so the D2X is looking more and more attractive!

I do a bit of all sorts of photography so I want a camera I won't get bored with or outgrow in a year or so. I've currently got reasonably good lenses so maybe the Nikon is the answer as I won't need as much, maybe just something at the wider end of the scale and a new flash unit.

I was going to trade in my F5 but realised once it was gone, I would probably miss it and I do still like film for some things.
