What AV software do you tell people running Windows to use?Not irrelevant, I was asked what I run, not what I tell people they should run. Perhaps your comprehension of your own question could be better. I make efforts to not recommend antivirus software to people running Windows. I'm nowhere near the Windows frontline anymore so as far as consumer at home computing goes I'm not sure what the latest and greatest is in defense. I do however know that Symantec is an overpriced, over-rated resource hog, and after wasting most of Friday fixing my general managers computer which was repeatedly hosed by Nod, I know that the way it does it's integration is pants. |

Well yes it is irrelevant because I asked you what AV software you use and to the best of my knowledge MAC OS X & Ubuntu linux are not AV software but Operating Systems. |

I thought it wouldn't need spelling out, but obviously you couldn't quite bridge that little gap on your own. I also stated that the AV software I used to use is no longer in production, making it's name of no value. |

People just don't come here to ask questions (take Metla for example, how often does he ask?), they come here also to help noobs like you and me |

You left out the bit where I said its simple to disable that feature if it annoys you. Personally I haven't had any issues with it at all. |

It installs it as default, so by default the NOD installation screws with the Winsock LSP. Sure you can turn it off later (whether this reverts the changes or not I don't know) - but the average Ma and Pa user aren't going to know how to do this. This means when it breaks, they don't just lose the POP3 proxy, or are unable to get e-mail - it means they are unable to get any internet access at all - and chances are it'll cost them a hefty technician fee to get it fixed, if in fact they can find a technician capable of fixing it withot reinstalling windows. If this chap Ninnny,finds us all to be idiots,why does he bother to post?Great contribution sissy (ooh look I can rearrange names too). |
