684794 2008-07-02 23:43:00 I have a user here with a really strange problem - when she presses and holds down a key, like the delete key, sometimes it works (i.e. continues to delete) but sometimes it just deletes one character and stops.

It also seems to be happening on the arrow keys etc.

I have checked Filter Keys and they're off.

It happens in Word and Outlook (office xp)

Is there anything else I should be looking at?

Cheers

684795 2008-07-02 23:55:00 Do you have another keyboard you can try?
Also what are the repeat rate settings set to under Keyboard in the control panel?

684796 2008-07-03 00:37:00 sorry, should have said, I have swapped the keyboard (first thing I did). Same problem.

I'll go check repeat rate...

684797 2008-07-03 04:42:00 Are you using PS/2 or USB keyboard?
Have the keyboard properties or reginal settings been changed?

684798 2008-07-03 05:01:00 it's a wireless MS keyboard with USB connection for the wireless thingee (no idea what it is called).

The only change we made was installing the East Asian Language support and Korean Language - the user flicks between these. However, I also have this on my computer and don't have the same problem (I am using Office 2007 tho).

684799 2008-07-03 05:32:00 Repeat rate settings were set to very fast and repeat delay to very short. I changed these settings to medium for both to see if it made any difference but it didn't :( susann (12077)
684800 2008-07-03 08:44:00 Have you tried reinstalling the driver in device manager? Blam (54)
684801 2008-07-04 03:48:00 I think I would try a wired PS/2 keyboard 1st & see if that cures the problem.
If it does then you would look at the wireless setup or drivers as suggested above.
