1428861 2016-11-17 22:19:00 I have two laptops, a Dell and a Lenovo, both have Malwarebytes installed.
The Dell does not run Malwarebytes on Boot up, but the Lenovo does. They both have the same version of MB, and both on the latest Windows 10 Pro. The start up links are the same on both. I have reinstalled MB in the Dell but makes no difference.
Why doesn't the Dell start MB, it starts all the other apps in the list ie: stick notes, desk pins, Avira, gadgets.

You need to have it enabled in your start up.
You can check this with Ccleaner or a similar free program

It is in the start up list on both computers. The Dell ignores it, but activates all the other entries.

1428864 2016-11-18 06:16:00 Right click on the Task Bar/ Settings, under the Notification Area,Select which icons appear on the Task Bar and select Malwarebytes if not selected

See if that changes things

1428865 2016-11-18 08:25:00 Check on both Computers one setting, on the one that isn't working open the services by typing Services in search, open it, Scroll down till you find the Malwarebytes Service, double click it, make sure its set to Automatic.

To make sure, check on the one that IS working that the setting is the same ( including the path and other settings in all tabs ) , if not then change the one that isn't working to the same as the one that is.

Have checked both. They are on the same path, C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbamservice.exe", and on Automatic.

PS. Just noticed that the start up link shown in CCleaner is C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbam.exe"
How to edit it to mbamservice.exe?

How to edit it to mbamservice.exe? Check both computers to make sure the settings are the same /Different.

To alter the path have a read: change-the-path-to-the-executable-of-a-windows-service.aspx (www.ingenuityworking.com)

SUGGESTION, make a Restore point first, just in case something turns to custard, then you can reverse it. Editing the reg is a dangerous task sometimes.

1428868 2016-11-19 08:20:00 I discovered that there was no entry for Malwarebytes in CC Uninstall, Windows uninstall, or Revo Uninstaller. Tried to delete the Malwarebytes folder but couldn't so booted Puppy Linux and dealt to it. Cleaned registry with CCleaner, then reinstalled Malwarebytes. It is now listed in uninstalls, and starts on Boot, but no entry in start up. It works, don't know how, but what the hell :) mzee (3324)
