1426789 2016-10-01 17:57:00 Youse guys must not read youse own PC World front page - right?

I think this is a good idea . . . but use a 3/4" paddle bit (I'm not sure of the Sillimeter Value, (SV) - but it's bigger than an eyeball and smaller than an egg .

For the Kiwi equiv of 'paddle bit', you're on your own .

1426790 2016-10-01 18:06:00 About 19mm, and a paddle bit is the flat wood drill bit with the pointy bit in the middle? I'd just call it a wood bit.

Not sure what we are talking about though, iPhone headphone jack maybe? because I'd love to see that.

1426793 2016-10-01 19:41:00 Flat buts aren't real drill bits and did you know if you read the small print of battery drills most say using flat bits voids the warranty. gary67 (56)
1426794 2016-10-01 20:25:00 A sheet metal drill would be very much better. They can easily be ground from a standard twist drill. This drill has a centre (center in American) pip and two cutting edges that trepan a clean edged hole. :clap Terry Porritt (14)

When I was on the Rolls Royce Viper recondition line we called them zero angle drills. Which we used to drill out spotwelds or stop drill cracks in the combustion liners. God save the Queen.

1426796 2016-10-01 21:05:00 I think the point is to do as much damage as possible, not make a clean hole. If you're going to destroy an iPhone don't do it nicely. A paddle bit seems perfect to me. dugimodo (138)
1426797 2016-10-01 22:11:00 It is better to destroy with style...........:devil Terry Porritt (14)

We call them 'brad points' here.

I have a few Forstner bits too, mostly for guitar building and such.
