1426783 2016-10-01 16:57:00 . . . . speak in empirically insular imperatives?

"You always (insert insular verb here)"?

and : "You're constantly (again, another debasing verb here)"!

I - OTOH, don't speak in infinitives . If something at the moment affects me, then it's over with and we go on to another subject .

SWMBO says she buries the hatchet - but I say she leaves the handle sticking up so she can find it again .

Ahhhhhh . Next time I'm coming back as a dog . That way I get free food, a warm place to sleep and I can pee outdoors wherever I want to .

Wait a minute - I already do the latter .

1426785 2016-10-01 17:56:00 I once compared my partner to an elephant but it wasn't until much later that I was able to explain that I was referring to their legendary memory. For some inexplicable reason she took it another way entirely and I didn't get to finish that sentence..
Lesson learnt I think. But the original point stands, because more than 25 years later if we happen to be at the same social gathering (we've long since parted ways but remain friends) that story invariably gets trotted out after a few drinks. I'm sure I'd have forgotten it otherwise. Some people just hold onto things, and it seems more common among our female friends.

Oh I don't know . . . . my husband is pretty good at it, he does the you always thing and then drags up stuff I did anything from last week to 35 years ago . . . .
Even if it isn't relevant to my current crime .

1426787 2016-10-02 01:06:00 I'm not totally sure it's only "Wimmen" who do that, Joe. It's one of those "Dear Abby" problems and one that neither gender is going to readily admit to. We are all capable of selective memories. :)
I must remember that about the hatchet, though. I am no psychologist but I have a friend who has a psychology degree, he is as mixed up as the rest of us.
