1426178 2016-09-19 02:46:00 Hi Team

We have had separate business and private phone-lines into our home for many years, but new technologies have reduce the need for my services and my workload has dropped off. This is something I am not unhappy about, so to reduce costs we have combined business and private on one line, but with a different ring cadence for private calls (actually the same cadence as Faxability).

However, and as an inconvenient side-effect, our private answerphone does not respond to the new cadence so our present answerphones will only pick up on the standard (business line) ringtone. This is a bit inconvenient because it seems we are not going to be able to receive private messages.

It may be that our current answerphones are a little too old, but does anybody have an answerphone on a 'faxability'-enabled line that responds to both ringtones?

Cheers

Note:This has nothing to do with faxes per se, but Telecom still refers to it as faxability, presumably because there may be a number of fax machines still in use out there. cdn.pressf1.pcworld.co.nz

1426179 2016-09-19 23:02:00 Update:

While idly musing about my problem, I suddenly remembered that I had a DORO answering machine (made in Poland) that was given to me several years ago by a friend who didn't trust Polish technology, so I dug it out and set it up.

To my surprise, it responded to both ring-tones, so it seems that my Panasonic answering machine (made in Malaysia) was not up to Polish standards!

Problem solved...apart from no longer being able to pretend that I'm a major corporation. I now have to use a 'one size fits all' greeting that has to identify both usages, otherwise clients might think they had a wrong number (I elected to confuse the Rellies :devil).

Cheers

Nah, in my greeting message I tell callers to use a burnt stick to record their message, charcoal rubs off easier than Nugget.
