1426070 2016-09-15 22:11:00 Hi All.
As you know I am a permanent rest home resident. At times I feel as tho' I am the "Go to Guy he will sort it". The Boss here wants to put a vertical Wi-Fi sound bar in the lounge. In the dining room, adjacent, is a very old boom box (one that Noah had). I tried to explain to her that the speaker unit was a 'receiver' only & she would need a multi disk player or something with a hard drive in it. Too confusing, I said I would look onto it

Is there a speaker unit with built in Hard Drive.

In the boot of a car one can put a multi disc box to play over the car radio. I imagine this is hard wired to the Dash. Not Wi-Fi.

I thought of a Theatre sound system, but guess it to be expensive?

Any suggestions? Thanks. PJ

Here (www.noelleeming.co.nz)

I dont think it's multidisk. But it does have a cd on the top of it. Should be able to play songs that are on cd or flash drive. But not DVD's

Are you sure PJ doesn't need something to play 78s or 45s?

A Sound Bar would fit the bill as they have heaps of features and inputs

1426077 2016-09-16 11:45:00 Just bought myself one of these. Need a fairly smart TV to work with it though. www.noelleeming.co.nz

It's great, gives very good sound and I stuck the sub behind my couch, very effective bass!

1426078 2016-09-16 23:40:00 Never mind a soundbar that can cost hundreds...Try a Karaoke machine. All become involved and sing and watch. Many today play all kinds of formats with all sorts of inputs. Seriously...I saw a NZ doco at a rest home. They used one...with Wayne "Singer of Songs" Anderson (www.nzherald.co.nz) (NZ herald article) kahawai chaser (3545)
