But this one was different........................

The Movie was the 'Free State of Jones' and relates the story of a disillusioned Confederate army deserter who returned to Mississippi and lead a militia of fellow deserters, runaway slaves, and women in an uprising against the corrupt local Confederate government.

It had the anticipated number of Confederate executions by shooting and hanging, but the end resut was the abolition of slavery (not by Jones alone, though he played a significant part in the process that led to the slaves being granted their freedom).

However, that was not what made it different, that lay in the audience.

There were only two of us, myself and Mrs T.

Surprisingly, it took a while to for us to realise that we could talk normally throughout the movie without complaints from fellow patrons, but I could then answer Mrs T's questions (she was a bit light on early american history). We had brought our lunch in from the car to keep it cool, so we ate that during the less horrendous scenes.

I doubt that we will ever again experience a whole theatre to ourselves!

Good movie, and recommended, but if you are a Yankee Redneck, best you don't go............you wouldn't like the outcome.

Cheers

1425941 2016-09-12 00:55:00 I've been to the movies and had the whole theatre to myself not that long ago. I think all it takes is a quiet time and a less popular movie or one that hasn't ben promoted.
For me it was Byzantine and I rather enjoyed it. I often go to the last session on a Sunday night and it's unusual to see more than a Dozen people there.

1425942 2016-09-12 03:11:00 One of my best movie experiences was... a World Rugby Cup match some years ago... the local cinema was offering a great deal to watch the game live. We booked and paid our tickets, but we received a call earlier on the day to say we were the only couple to book. So... they cancelled the viewing, and offered us a free return limo ride into Auckland from Howick, a few free vinos and snacks! What a great night! Especially 'cos we won the game! Greg (193)
