1428205 2016-11-03 22:52:00 Anyway,
Google have done stuff far worse , stuff that you or I could have to to jail for (then the oops that was an accident response) .
Everyone else had been doing this for years, so why the sudden rants only now, only about MS (and not all the others)

Oh I see, two wrongs now make a right these days.

Well, not here they don't!

Google changed their terms of usage a short while back, They make no secret of what they do with the data they collect AND your own personal documents , emails, pictures etc.
If you want a good read ( or scary read) look up the terms Service. www.google.com

Just a small snippet:
When you upload, submit, store, send or receive content to or through our Services, you give Google (and those we work with) a worldwide license to use, host, store, reproduce, modify, create derivative works (such as those resulting from translations, adaptations or other changes we make so that your content works better with our Services), --------------
Our automated systems analyze your content (including emails) to provide you personally relevant product features, such as customized search results, tailored advertising, and spam and malware detection. This analysis occurs as the content is sent, received, and when it is stored---------

That's scary stuff.

OK, but if you are truely concerned about data collection/spying then
disconnect from the interent : your web browsing is tracked : data collecting
stop using email , thats all saved & stored (nz law) , and many email providers scan through your email to collect more data
dont use efptpos, dont use credit card: more data collection

so, either do all that or admit to us that this is all an anti MS rant
you either care about data collection or you dont. No point pointing the finger only at MS
:)

1428212 2016-11-06 03:24:00 Well, it seems I have greatly over estimated the inelegance of some of our members. :(

It seems that some would happily wear an Ankle Bracelet tracking device as long as it had “Microsoft” displayed on the side.

As for arguing Google do much worse is nonsense.

Google is the equivalent of being under surveillance whilst you cross the Auckland Harbour Bridge, whereas Microsoft with their spyware and key-loggers is the equivalent of having surveillance installed in your car reporting even your conversations back home to Microsoft.

Needless to say I don’t condone either, but Microsoft’s behaviour is nothing short of outrageous.

That should test the blood pressure drugs the Microsoft Missionary’s are on. :D

your anti-MS stance is clouding your judgement

a better analogy is google are poking their heads into the windows of your house & tape recording everything they hear
www.wired.com
"The unredacted FCC report refers to a Google “design document” written by an engineer who crafted the Street View software to collect so-called payload data, which includes telephone numbers, URLs, passwords, e-mail, text messages, medical records, video and audio files sent over open Wi-Fi networks.

The engineer is referred to as “Engineer Doe” in the report, though he was identified on Sunday as Marius Milner, a well-known figure in the Wi-Fi hacking community. The document says the software Milner used collected 200 gigabytes of data via Street View cars between 2008 and 2010:"

they cat is out of the bag, has been for years.
Ranting about MS: you're missing the point. They are all doing it .
Dont be so naive as to think its just MS, they are a minor player in all the data collected about you .
